1/8/15

My inspiration for this piece came from a similar project I found on Pinterest. It was a picture of an orange flower. The picture didn't have a background, and I really liked how that looked so I used it in my piece.
I drew the outline for this flower an leaf with a pencil first, then colored it in with the appropriate colored pencils. I started with the flower first, then the leaves. After I colored the flower with the pink base color, I highlighted the petals with a yellow.
This flower represents the beauty of nature, the light colors give off a warm and welcoming feel. The flower is blossoming, so it represents new life. I drew the flower without a background to show that the flower is the main focus.
I like how the piece turned out because I think the blending turned out nicely. The detail in the leaves give it a more finished feel. I also think the colors I chose were a good choice.

I got my inspiration from this piece from a similar design I found on Pinterest. The design had the same outline but I changed the inside of it. I also chose different colors than the picture.
Instead of drawing the outline with pencil first, I immediately began with sharpie. After I drew the piece in sharpie, I chose the warm colors the make the piece more lively and nice to look at. I got the ideas for the designs from other pictures I found online.
It represents the intricate meaning of life. The bright colors show the happiness of the world and the black details represent the ups and downs. There are different types of flowers shown in the piece to show the different people in the world around us.
I think the piece turned out nicely, the shading blended well. I also think the entire project has a lot of details. I think the bright colors contrast nicely with the black.

I really liked the way this picture looked when I found it, so I tried it with ink and colored pencil and so far I think it's turning out very well. In the smoke cloud I would like to put roses in there, but I don't particularly enjoy drawing roses so I may print out pictures and paste them in there. I haven't decided yet on the background.
I decided against the rose idea because I didn't think it would look very good with the roses printed out, so I decided to use line work to fill in the smoke cloud. I really like how the curves came out, although if you look closely, some of the lines fall together, making some spots look really dark, which I don't like as much.
This is the finished product. I actually like how it turned out. For the bottom I used solid acrylic paint so it didn't take away from the woman as much. I added color to the piece so it wasn't focused as much on the rainbow hair rather than the tattoos and the line work in the smoke cloud. Overall, I think that this piece turned out very well and I will continue to use black marker for a lot of my pieces to make them stand out more.

These four pictures were taken after I had already finished the piece, but I added a little more color each time. It was drawn in ink and then I used colored pencil to fill in the flowers. I found the inspiration for this piece on Pinterest, there were similar patterns used in the other piece. I think the layout and ink parts of the piece turned out very well, but I'm not very pleased with how the colored pencils worked. I like the colors I used but it just doesn't look as blended as I wanted it to be, but if I continue blending it will rip the bored. I think I may continue with designs like this without a background because I like how most of it looks.

I drew this woman in graphite. I started with the outline of her hair then drew in her face. I completed all the details before adding in the shading. It's not one of my best works but I think the shape of her face and eyes make her unique.
