I really liked the way this picture looked when I found it, so I tried it with ink and colored pencil and so far I think it's turning out very well. In the smoke cloud I would like to put roses in there, but I don't particularly enjoy drawing roses so I may print out pictures and paste them in there. I haven't decided yet on the background.
I decided against the rose idea because I didn't think it would look very good with the roses printed out, so I decided to use line work to fill in the smoke cloud. I really like how the curves came out, although if you look closely, some of the lines fall together, making some spots look really dark, which I don't like as much.
This is the finished product. I actually like how it turned out. For the bottom I used solid acrylic paint so it didn't take away from the woman as much. I added color to the piece so it wasn't focused as much on the rainbow hair rather than the tattoos and the line work in the smoke cloud. Overall, I think that this piece turned out very well and I will continue to use black marker for a lot of my pieces to make them stand out more.
