I got the inspiration for this piece from a project I found on Pinterest. Instead of drawing red ladybugs and only three stems, I added more leaves coming from different sides of the paper. The leaves had a design on them in the original picture as well.
I didn't use graphite at all in the piece. I initially drew the leaves in sharpie, then made the ends thicker than the middle of the stem. Then I drew in the ladybugs and colored them in with different colors to enhance the drawing and make it more enjoyable to look at.
This piece represents the simplicity of the ladybugs beauty. The lack of background brings out the main focus, which are the lady bugs on plants obviously. I decided to add detail to the leaves because it made the piece more interesting to look at.
I think my ladybugs turned out good because they look similar to each other and are colored in nicely. The exact detail in the sharpie is done nicely also. The simplicity of the piece makes me like it.
